In a recent interview for Interempresas, Juan Carlos Southwood, Head of Business Development and Head of Non-Aeronautical Programmes and Funded Projects at Fidamc, shared the strategic evolution of the centre and its growing role in sectors beyond aeronautics, such as naval, railway and energy.<\/p>\n

Fidamc has demonstrated its ability to apply knowledge acquired in the aeronautics industry to other industrial sectors with similar technological challenges. \u2018Our experience in composite materials and automated processes allows us to add value in areas where structural efficiency and sustainability are key,\u2019 says Southwood. This orientation responds to a clear commitment to diversification as a means of growth and consolidation.<\/p>\n

Technology transfer as a driver of competitiveness<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of Fidamc's strengths is its ability to transfer technology to industry quickly and effectively. Southwood points out that \u2018the key is to understand the specific needs of each sector and adapt our technological solutions to maximise their impact\u2019. This capability has enabled the centre to establish strategic partnerships with large companies and technology centres, generating valuable synergies for innovation.<\/p>\n

In addition, Fidamc actively participates in funded programmes that promote the development of cutting-edge technologies, allowing it to be at the forefront of advanced manufacturing processes, such as resin transfer moulding (RTM) or the use of thermoplastic composites.<\/p>\n

Sustainability and innovation: an inseparable binomial<\/strong><\/p>\n

Commitment to sustainability is another of the centre's cross-cutting themes. \u2018We are convinced that innovation is meaningless if it does not contribute to a more sustainable future,\u2019 says Southwood. From reducing the weight of structural components to integrating recyclable materials, Fidamc works to ensure that its technological solutions help reduce the environmental footprint of resource-intensive sectors.<\/p>\n
