FIDAMC - Foundation for the research development and application of composite materials
the origins of the foundation

FIDAMC (The Composites Research, Development and Application Centre) was founded as the result of an agreement between the Spanish Industry, Tourism and Trade Ministry, Madrid Regional Government and EADS NV, signed on 15th March 2006. The research centre is located at the Southern Technological Area (Getafe – Madrid). An initial amount of €26 M was invested through the 2006/2008 period to build the facilities and acquire the leading-edge equipment required. The centre covers approximately 20,000 m2 in total.

50%of the Project is financed by EADS, while the other 50% belongs to the Centre for Industrial and Technological Development (CDTI) and Madrid Community (C.M.).

Consequently, the decision to create FIDAMC came about as a result of the importance given by the successive Spanish governments to the aerospace sector, given its strategic nature, and to the need to create a Centre of Excellence for research into the industrial application of composite materials.
