FIDAMC produces and prints its own high performance filaments

The Foundation has focused its efforts in developing new materials applicable to ALM (Additive Layer Manufacturing) technology of 3D-printing. Recently, high performance polymer filaments such as PEI (Poly-EtherImide) and PEEK (Poly-Ether EtherKetone) were produced, and in some cases with short-carbon fiber (sCF) fillers.

These polymers will lead to apply ALM technique for manufacturing of parts subjected to elevated requirements in terms of mechanical properties, fire safety and high temperature performances. Carbon fiber properly included in these matrices enhances significantly the mechanical properties such as tensile modulus (x10 factor) and tensile strength (x3 factor), and reduces the cooling shrinkage at the time, bringing more reliable printings.

Works in manufacturing of materials for 3D-printing are being fully financed by FIDAMC with the aim of enlarging the capabilities of this versatile and widely employed in industry technique.
