ESTENEA. High productivity automated manufacturing process for omega stringers with high curvature


The ESTENEA project (STUDY OF LOW COST TECHNOLOGIES AND HIGH RATE PRODUCTION IN COMPOSITES), promoting by CDTI and leading by Airbus Operations in the consortium, includes a plan of development focused on the improvement of manufacturing process and automation solution for serial production for composites process.

In this particular work package, Fidamc develops with Airbus DS an automated manufacturing process for W stringers with high curvature in UD prepreg for A320 Fan Cowl

Current process of these stringers is manual in fabric prepreg; however, this development achieves a continuous automatic flow to get parts with the following objectives:

  • High quality and repetitive process.
  • High level of automatization (high rate).
  • Reduce recurrent costs (RC) and lead time (LT).
