From February 17 to 19, we participated in the 7th edition of Small Satellites & Services International Forum (SSSIF), held in Malaga. This forum has established itself as one of the key events in the international space ecosystem, bringing together companies, technology centers, agencies, and startups specializing in small satellites, associated services, and disruptive technologies.

A strategic meeting point for New Space

The SSSIF is much more than a trade show: it is a space for connecting satellite platform manufacturers, integrators, subsystem suppliers, launch companies, and companies specializing in materials, testing, and qualification.

In a context where the market for small satellites (SmallSats and CubeSats) continues to grow steadily, structural validation and advanced material characterization are becoming critical factors in ensuring:

  • Reliability in extreme conditions
  • Weight reduction without compromising strength
  • Compliance with standards and qualification processes
  • Design optimization for increasingly demanding missions

In this environment, the contribution of specialized technology centers such as Fidamc is essential to support the industry in its R&D, certification, and industrial scaling processes.

Our stand A07: real-world testing for space applications

During the fair, at our stand A07, we presented advanced testing solutions applied to materials and structures in the space sector, in collaboration with ARQUIMEA, a renowned national and international manufacturer of aerospace structures.

We displayed real test specimens from the sector on which we have performed critical tests for material validation:

  • Shear test on metal sandwich panels, aimed at evaluating the resistance to core pull-out and behaviour under transverse loads.
  • Pull-out test on high modulus carbon fibre laminates, to characterise the response of anchors and analyse pull-out failure mechanisms.

In addition, we bring the original tool used during the trials, allowing visitors to see first-hand:

  • The precision of our procedures
  • The traceability and control of our processes
  • Our ability to design and manufacture specific tools tailored to each need

Validation, certification and technological development

Participation in the SSSIF has enabled us to strengthen our position as a technology partner in:

  • Advanced structural testing
  • Composite material validation
  • Certification and qualification support
  • Development of specific R&D solutions for the space sector

In a market where every gram counts and every component must withstand extreme conditions of vibration, vacuum and temperature, reliability begins in the laboratory.

We continue to build the future of space

The close of the fair has been highly productive, consolidating existing relationships and identifying tangible opportunities for business and technological development. There are clear paths for turning several conversations into projects, technical visits and funded proposals, strategically positioning Fidamc in the aerospace and defence sector.

We would like to thank all the professionals who visited our stand and shared their technological challenges and new projects with us. The dynamism of the sector confirms that the European space ecosystem is experiencing a moment of great momentum, and at Fidamc we will continue to work to provide technical rigour, innovation and excellence in every test.
