- The Advanced Manufacturing Centre (CFA) in Cadiz, which will start operating at full capacity soon, was also presented
Fidamc, the R&D&I and training centre for composite materials, has had an outstanding participation in the JEC World 2025 fair, the world's leading event in the composite materials sector, where it has presented its technological advances and has established key strategic alliances for the future of the industry.
Fidamc used the context of the JEC to announce the signing of six strategic agreements with key companies in the sector:
- Hexcel Corporation: strategic alliance to drive innovation in advanced composite materials, exploring new uses and developing joint R&D projects.
- Harbin Hafei Airbus Composite Manufacturing Center Co. Ltd: collaboration in manufacturing engineering, process optimisation and development of digital and sustainable technologies.
- Airbus MATI (Manufacturing Technology Incubator): creation of a centre of excellence at the Airbus facilities in Illescas, Spain, to drive innovation in aerospace manufacturing. For Fidamc, this is the opening of its fourth centre of excellence after Cadiz, Getafe and Brussels.
- Biesterfeld Group: development of additive manufacturing solutions and tooling to improve efficiency and sustainability in the aerospace industry.
- Composite Technology Center / CTC GmbH – An Airbus Company: driving the development of key technologies for the aviation and hydrogen sector, with a focus on storage tanks, new generation thermoplastics and smart structures.
- CEAD Group: collaboration in large-format additive manufacturing for sectors such as marine and aeronautics, with the aim of developing digital twins and high-performance mould design.
Presentation of cutting-edge technologies at FIDAMC
Attendees at the show were able to see first-hand a series of technology demonstrators highlighting Fidamc's advanced solutions in the field of composite materials. In addition, the Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC), a state-of-the-art centre aimed at transforming the industry through research and development of new manufacturing technologies, was presented.
‘Interest in composite materials continues to boom, extending beyond aviation to sectors such as automotive, marine, rail and sports, including innovative applications such as paddle blades,’ explains Ernesto González, CEO of Fidamc. ‘In this regard, during the event, Fidamc held meetings with numerous suppliers of materials, components and equipment, as well as the main manufacturers in each sector, in line with its strategy of accelerating technologies to boost sustainable mobility,’ he continues.
A key focus of Fidamc's participation at JEC World 2025 was 3D Printing, a key area in the company's vision for the future. The importance of thermoplastic materials was also highlighted. ‘It is an emerging technology that has great potential for prototypes and small series production,’ says Ernesto.
MFFD project demos
The prestigious JEC Innovation Award 2025 was recently presented to the Multi-Functional Fuselage Demonstrator (MFFD), a multi-company project, in the Aerospace Parts category. This award, the most important in the sector, recognises excellence in innovation and collaboration within the industry.
Within the MFFD project, Fidamc developed two representative components to demonstrate the feasibility of using In Situ Consolidation (ISC) and thermoplastic materials in airframe manufacturing. These components were exhibited at the show and will be used in mechanical tests to validate the technologies developed.
‘Thanks to the exhibition of these demos, Fidamc received great recognition from the companies that participated in the fair. Seeing that, thanks to the work of the Fidamc teams, we are admired by other companies in the sector gives us a lot of encouragement and energy to continue working hard on innovation in composite materials,’ concludes Ernesto.
Fidamc's participation in JEC World 2025 has been a resounding success, strengthening its position in the industry and opening up new opportunities for the future. This recognition and the strategic alliances achieved reinforce its commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence in composites manufacturing.
