From Fidamc we want to share great news: our colleague Rafael Contento has been nominated as FIDAMC Level 3 Responsible for Non Destructive Testing (NDT). This achievement reflects his great experience and commitment to excellence in inspection and quality processes.
To better understand the importance of this recognition, it is key to know what Non Destructive Testing is and the differences between a Level 3 in a specific method and a Responsible Level 3.
Non Destructive Testing (NDT) is an inspection technique used in industry to assess the integrity of materials and structures without damaging them..They are essential in sectors such as aeronautics, automotive and construction, where safety and quality are critical. Common methods include ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing and others.
In NDT, professionals can achieve three levels of expertise in each inspection method. Rafael obtained Level 3 in Ultrasonics according to EN4179 in 2021, which certifies his maximum knowledge in this field.
However, being Level 3 Responsible goes beyond specialisation in a specific method. This figure is key within the company, as it assumes technical responsibility for all non-destructive testing carried out. At Fidamc, until December this function was carried out by David Torres Macarrilla, to whom we would like to show our utmost gratitude, externally, but now it has passed into the hands of Rafael.
What does this new role entail? The main difference is that the Level 3 Responsible is more focused on documentation, quality and process assurance,, rather than direct operations. In addition, he/she is in charge of supervising and ensuring the correct performance of the team of inspectors, as well as the inspection devices and procedures applied.
From Fidamc, we congratulate Rafael for this great step in his career and thank him for his dedication to continue raising the quality standards in our non-destructive testing. Congratulations!
