On 5 and 6 June 2025 Madrid was the epicenter of technological debate in the aerospace sector thanks to the “Accelerating Aerospace Innovation” conference organized by Tekniker, GMV and Fidamc. This conference formed part of the project ECOAERO, an initiative funded by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) through the Cervera Networks of Excellence.
During two intense days, professionals, companies, technology centres and institutional representatives met to share advances, detect real needs and establish strategic alliances to boost the competitiveness of the aeronautics and space sector.
The conference was structured in two complementary events: ‘Transforming the future of aeronautics’ (5 June at the IMDEA Materials Institute) and ‘Boosting the space industry’ (6 June at GMV's headquarters in Tres Cantos). Both sessions offered a space for technology transfer, knowledge exchange and collaboration promotion, in line with the Strategic R&D&I Agendas 2025-2035 and the objectives of the PERTE Aerospace.
Fidamc's leading role in both conferences
Fidamc had a particularly prominent participation in both days. In the session on the 5th, which focused on the challenges of aviation, the Director General of Fidamc, Ernesto González, participated in both the opening and closing sessions, as well as taking part in Round Table 1, in which the challenges and opportunities of the sector were contextualised. Juan Carlos Southwood presented the ECOAERO project, highlighting its objectives and the value of collaboration between R&D&I agents. For his part, Álvaro Calero took part in the in Round Table 4, dedicated to advanced materials. The day concluded with visits to the Fidamc facilities, where success stories and technological demonstrations in advanced manufacturing, applied robotics and sustainable solutions were shown.
The second day, focused on the space industry, brought together leading companies in the sector and addressed key aspects such as digitalisation, the development of new materials, efficient design and space waste management. At this event, Juan Carlos Southwood once again presented the ECOAERO project, and Ernesto González closed the event, reaffirming Fidamc's commitment to the development of transformative and sustainable technologies for the space sector.
These conferences not only reinforced Fidamc's position as a key player in the Spanish aerospace ecosystem, but also consolidated its role as a driver of collaborative innovation. The centre's active participation in both meetings demonstrated its commitment to applied research, technology transfer and the strengthening of the aerospace value chain.
Through the ECOAERO project, Fidamc continues to lead strategic initiatives that connect knowledge, industry and innovation to build a more competitive and sustainable future for aeronautics and space.
