OBJECTIVES
This project aims to
develop dry carbon fibre manufacturing methods into a fully automated, robust
and efficient process that will compete with pre-impregnated typical processes
regarding manufacturability, rate, performance and costs.
TASK
The designed process
includes:

Development of an Automatic Fibre Placement (AFP) head machine to allow the lay-up of UD dry carbon tows.

Study of tufting process to improve handling and crack propagation properties.

Development of high productivity forming processes.

Development of infusion technologies by Vacuum Assisted
Process (VAP).
