Fidamc and the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) have established a collaboration and sponsorship agreement to support the Ü Motorsport team in the fabricación de piezas y componentes de materiales compuestos para el monoplaza. Este acuerdo busca promover la investigación, la transferencia de tecnología y la excelencia académica, así como fortalecer la relación entre la academia y la industria para enfrentar los desafíos científicos de la sociedad actual.
Ü Motorsport is an initiative of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Innovation and Transfer of the URJC that brings together undergraduate and graduate students in the design and construction of a single-seater racing car for the Formula Student. This international competition, also known as SAE Formula Student, is an educational platform where university teams from around the world design, build and compete with single-seater vehicles.
Founded in 1979 at the University of Houston, Formula Student promotes engineering excellence and the practical application of theoretical knowledge in a competitive environment.
Formula Student is comprised of several tests that evaluate both technical and economic aspects of vehicles. Static tests include engineering design, cost analysis and business presentation, while dynamic tests include acceleration, skidpad handling, autocross and an endurance test. The goal is not only to build the fastest vehicle, but to develop a comprehensive project that demonstrates commercial viability, innovation and efficiency.
Students will be able to acquire skills in cutting-edge technologies
The collaboration between Fidamc and the URJC will provide the Ü Motorsport team with access to advanced resources and specialized advice in the manufacture of composite components. Fidamc, as a reference center in research and development of composite materials, will provide its expertise to optimize the performance and quality of the single-seater parts. This support is essential for students to acquire skills in cutting-edge technologies and prepare them for future professional challenges in sectors such as automotive and aeronautics.
In addition, participation in Formula Student offers students a unique experience to apply their knowledge in a real environment, facing challenges that require creativity, teamwork and project management skills, and Fidamc the possibility to discover talent and offer job opportunities to URJC students, some of whom have already become part of the staff.
In summary, the alliance between Fidamc and URJC to support the Ü Motorsport team in Formula Student represents a significant step towards the integration of academia and industry. This joint effort not only boosts innovation and technological development, but also contributes to the training of future professionals capable of leading projects in an increasingly competitive and constantly evolving world.
