Fidamc has participated in FITEA 2025, the Forum for Innovation, Talent and Aerospace Education, held from 29 to 31 October at TecnoGetafe (Madrid). This event has established itself as one of the most important gatherings in the aerospace sector in Spain, bringing together companies, institutions, start-ups, universities and young talent to discuss technological innovation, sustainability and talent development.

Over three days, Fidamc showcased its main lines of research in composite materials, a key area for the future of the aeronautical and space industry, at its stand in Hall 13. Visitors were able to see first-hand the centre's most innovative projects, supported by audiovisual material and informative resources that reflect Fidamc's role as a benchmark in applied research and technology transfer.

Connecting industry, training and talent

The forum emphasised the importance of connecting the aerospace industry with education and training, promoting STEM careers and new professional opportunities for future generations. In this context, Fidamc participated in various networking and speed recruiting activities aimed at strengthening collaboration with companies, universities and training centres, as well as attracting new talent to the sector.

One of the most notable presentations was that of Juan Carlos Southwood,Head of Program Office and Head of Business Development at Fidamc, who participated in a round table discussion on talent and innovation in the aerospace sector. During his speech, he emphasised the importance of the human factor as a driver of innovation:

“Innovation and development, both in the aeronautical sector and in any other, would not be possible without the talent of people. We are experiencing a period of great growth in commercial aviation, defence and space, in which the demand for STEM professionals is increasing”

“I recommend that new graduates maintain their enthusiasm for learning throughout their professional lives. In such a volatile and changing environment, adaptability, tolerance for failure, and communication and teamwork skills are key to being well-rounded and successful professionals.”

Driving the future of the aerospace sector

FITEA 2025 also included panels on sustainability, professional ethics, equality and innovation applied to space exploration, such as the Hackathon Mars challenge and the panel ‘Ellas vuelan alto’ (Women fly high), which served as inspiration for students and young professionals.

Through its participation, Fidamc reaffirms its commitment to advanced research, talent training and multi-sector collaboration. The centre continues to work to bring technology closer to society and contribute to the development of a more sustainable, competitive and humane aerospace sector.
