Fidamc took part in the first review meeting of the European ECORES WIND, held recently in Madrid, where the consortium presented the technical progress made during the first few months of work. The meeting concluded with a positive assessment from the European Commission, confirming the good progress of this initiative focused on developing circular solutions for the wind energy sector.
Mónica Peñas Caballero attended on behalf of Fidamc, taking part in the technical and strategic sessions alongside the other European partners in the project. ECORES WIND aims to develop new circular resin systems and reversible adhesives for wind turbine components, particularly wind turbine blades, in order to facilitate their reuse, repair and recycling at the end of their useful life.
FIDAMC’s participation within the consortium is particularly significant due to its expertise in advanced composite materials and manufacturing processes for sectors with high technological demands. The center contributes its knowledge in the development and validation of new sustainable solutions for composites, helping to bring these technologies closer to the industrial environment and promoting their future implementation in real-world applications within the wind energy sector.
Sustainable management of wind turbine blades
The project, coordinated by GAIKER and funded by Horizon Europe, addresses one of the major challenges of the energy transition: the sustainable management of wind turbine blades made from thermosetting composite materials, which remain difficult to recycle using conventional technologies. ECORES WIND aims to tackle this challenge through innovative materials that extend the service life of components and facilitate their dismantling and recovery.
During the meeting held in Madrid, the partners shared progress on new formulations of recyclable resins, advanced manufacturing techniques, and environmental and economic assessment strategies to ensure the viability of the solutions developed. The positive assessment received during this first review provides significant support for continuing to make progress towards the project’s next milestones.
Through its participation in ECORES WIND, Fidamc continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainable innovation and the development of technologies that contribute to a more circular, efficient and environmentally friendly composites industry.
